Calbee Inc. Karubī Kabushikigaisha (カルビー株式会社?)
is a major Japanese snack food maker. It was founded on April 30, 1949.
It launched operations at a new plant in the United States for making
its mainstay products "Kappa Ebisen" shrimp chips and "Saya-endo" snow pea crisps on Sept 18, 2007.Its snacks are hugely popular in Asia, and are well known in the States. Its headquarters is located in the Marunouchi Trust Tower Main in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, Tokyo.

Calbee‘s first American shop is now open at Westfield. The Japanese snack specialist famous for those ubiquitous shrimp chips and snap pea crisps has landed on the bottom floor of the mall at a chic little storefront.
But, as noted earlier, the retail shop is special because it’s offering exclusive items previously only available in Japan. In other words, there are no shrimps or peas here. Instead, there is a counter of blonde wooden boxes, filled with your choice of deep-fried snacks, to be scooped into three sizes of cups ($3-$6).
The food options are divided into three categories: Sticks are the crispy one, cut like McDonald’s fries and available in teriyaki, black pepper, curry, and/or vegetable; Snaps are slightly thicker and available in standard or Japanese-grown purple potatoes; and finally, a section of Veggies that includes sliced sweet potato, pumpkin and onion.
Open Monday-Saturday from 10am – 8:30pm; Sunday from 10am – 7pm. Takeout only.
Calbee: 845 Market Street, in Westfield; (415) 201-0982 or calbeeshop.com
